Invisalign — The Perfect Opportunity To Smile
As recently as a decade ago, people with crooked or unaligned teeth only had one treatment option, and that was metal braces. Although braces have been proven effective, many patients are reluctant to use them for cosmetic reasons, as a mouth full of metal is not usually considered appealing. Additionally, metal braces are be quite painful and restrict the types of food their wearers are able to eat. And obviously, you cannot temporarily remove your braces to enjoy these forbidden foods, like Carmel corn or bubble gum.
Fortunately, there is a new way to straighten teeth that does not have any of these problems, and that’s Invisalign. You may or may not have heard about Invisalign aligners, but they are some of the newest and most popular methods of straightening your teeth. These amazing “braces,” if you even want to call them that, are much different from the traditional metal ones.
First off, as the name suggests Invisalign is invisible. The aligners are made out of a clear material, which are customized to fit your teeth after your braces orthodontist takes a mold of your mouth. Invisalign aligners work just as well as the old metal braces, except most people won’t even notice that you have anything in your mouth. Patients typically receive a set of aligners so that their teeth are straightened in small increments, thus reducing pain.
Additionally, these Invisalign braces are not connected to your teeth, unlike metal braces. Invisalign aligners can be taken out at any time. Most doctors suggest that you keep your aligners in at least 20 hours a day, but that still leaves some time to enjoy your favorite foods, go on dates, or anything else you would rather do without Invisalign in your mouth. This is especially true if you wear your aligners at night. Talk about convenience and comfort!
Invisalign aligners do tend to cost a little more than metal braces, but a lot of people would rather choose Invisalign and pay a few more dollars than put up with traditional braces. I know I would! Invisalign aligners are also said to take less time to correct your tooth alignment than the other form of braces. Patients sometimes have to wear metal braces for one or two years, but in a lot of cases people that wear Invisalign braces are able to remove them after just six to eight months. That’s a pretty big difference!
Even if you thought you couldn’t afford braces, most offices are willing to work with you when it comes to something as important as your teeth. These generous doctors don’t look at patients and see dollar signs — they see people whose lives can be seriously improved by straighter teeth.
